Furniture Designs Influenced by Fashion Runways
Furniture collections are mirroring the fashion runways of New York as more and more famous fashion creators are jumping into designing furniture. For years we have talked about how home décor follows fashion but if this year’s furniture collections are any indication of the future, home décor just might end up influencing the runways.
The secret to a successful licensing collection is two fold. It must attract attention and it must sell. The best way to attract potential buyers to a new compendium is to connect it to a well-known brand that already stands for style, quality and value with consumers.
Brands like Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, Cynthia Rowley and Tommy Hilfiger have already proven that they are winners in the fashion world. Now furniture manufactures are betting on their names to sell product.
Fashion icons like Fendi, Armani, Louis Vuitton, Loewe and Versace are already in the game. But now with American designers partnering with American furniture companies their individual style and color palates are more financially attainable.
Lifestyle brand Tommy Hilfiger has added furniture to his home furnishings collection that already includes bedding, bath and decorative accessories. Through a licensing agreement, LF Products will offer two collections; the New York Collection reflecting modern city life and the Greenwich Collection reflects coastal aesthetic and country living.
His New York collection channels urban sophistication with upholstered bedframes and sofas in luxurious tufted velvets, crisp linens, and soft leathers in his signature hues of red, white, and blue. The collection is comprised of pieces for the living room, dining room and bedroom. Check your closet if you own any clothing, handbags, shoes, sports wear or home fragrances then the name Cynthia Rowley is already adorning your closet. Her collection designed for and manufactured by Hooker Furniture is a 150-piece collection of living room, bedroom, dining room, and accent furniture.
This is the first time Hooker has partnered with a fashion designer for a furniture collection. “I’ve always believed mixing is better than matching, which is why my new collection with Hooker Furniture is divided into three stories,” Rowley explained. “Each one has its own attitude: PRETTY suggests a delicate opulence, SPORTY bold, graphic and colorful, CURIOUS global and eclectic.” If you’ve been saving to buy that special Kate Spade handbag just wait till you see how much you’ll need to save to buy one of her sofas.
EJ Victor, one of the top high-end furniture manufacturers introduced Spade’s new furniture collection that includes tufted sofas, black and white polka dot desks and brass side tables. Visual Comfort presented lighting and Jaipur excited the market with colorful floral and leopard rugs. The exciting news about all three designers’ collections is their authenticity. Each in its own way remains true to the core design style and values of the individual designer.
Spade known for her pretty, flirty, bold colored prints has included those same concepts into her new home décor line but she realized that men and children have to live with these pieces too, so there are also softer neutral shades available throughout the assortment.
Tommy Hilfiger hasn’t strayed from his coastal style. His upholstered and case good collections embrace fabrics and textures with a pop of color, signature patterns and detailing just like his iconic fashion collections.
Rowley’s global lifestyle brand known for its eye-catching prints, pretty, flirty and adventurous style is highly present in her new furniture collection. Perhaps fashion designer inspired home furnishings will make decorating easier for the average homeowner.
When you shop brands its generally because you identify with their style and color pool. So, if you’re a fan of their fashions you’ll most likely feel right at home with their furniture collections.
